for Startups, Inc. (the “Company”) will handle personal information of persons who use the services provided by the Company (collectively, the“Services”), other persons involved, and our employees (collectively,“Customers”), as follows.
(1) Acquisition of personal information
The Company will acquire personal information by lawful and appropriate means to the extent necessary for its operations. The information to be acquired by the Company includes the following, among others. Please note that if a Customer does not provide part of his/her personal information to the Company, certain of the Company’s services may not be available to the Customer or the Company may not be able to answer the Customer’s inquiries.
(a) Information to be directly provided by a Customers
- Personal information (name, date of birth, affiliation, etc.)
- Contact information (email address, telephone number, address of affiliation, etc.)
- Other information (including identifiers and the like generated by services provided by third parties) input or sent by the Customer by any of the means or tools(including services provided by third parties) specified by the Company.
(b) Information received by the Company in the course of the Customer’s use of the Services
- Information on the Customer’s usage of the Services (such as usage logs)
- Information on the environment in which the Services are used (IP address and other network information, terminal information, browser information, etc.)
- Other information on the usage of the Services and information on the environment in which the Services are used, in each case that are received by the Company in the course of the Customer’s use of the Services by any of the means or tools(including services provided by third parties) specified by the Company.
(c) Informationreceived by the Company from third parties
- Publishedinformation on companies or their officers.
- Informationregistered on other companies’ job search websites.
(2) Acquisition of personal related information
In relation to the provision of its information platform“STARTUP DB” and its career transition service “Talentship,” the Company will use access analysis tools, user trend visualization tools, etc. provided bythird parties, will acquire information on Customers’ website usage collected through the use of these tools, etc., as well as the results of analyzing thisinformation, and will use the analytical results by connecting them to Customers’personal data.
(3) Intended uses of personal information
The Company will use personal information within the scope of the following intended uses or the intended uses that are obvious from the situation in which the personal information was acquired, and the Company will not use personal information for any other purpose without the consent of the Customer or unless permitted by law. Based on personal data provided to the Company, the Company may create statistical data which has been processed to make individuals unidentifiable. The Company is entitled to use such statistical data without any restriction.
(a) Personal information about a person who use a Service or any other person involved
- To accept an application for the Service; to confirm the person’s identity; to execute an agreement; to manage the operation of the Service; and to provide the Service.
- To send promotional messages or other communications about the Service; and to request cooperation in questionnaire surveys about the Service.
- To distribute information about trends in the industry or email newsletters, etc.
- To request cooperation in questionnaire surveys regarding, or advertise, the Service.
- To respond to inquiries about the person’s use of the Service.
- To improve or maintain the Service; and to consider developing new services.
- To request cooperation in questionnaire surveys regarding, or advertise, services or the like of companies affiliated with the Company.
(b) Personal information related to information registered on other companies’ job search websites
- To send headhunting messages; to communicate dates and times of counseling sessions; to manage candidates; and to communicate selection results, etc.
(c) Personal information related to a start-up company
- To build databases and to improveservices.
(d) Personal information related to seminars and various events hosted or jointly hosted by the Company
- To send promotional messages about, or advertise, or manage the operation of, the above seminars and various events and the like.
- To send promotional messages or other communications about the Service; and to request cooperation in questionnaire surveys about the Service.
- To provide information to businesses, companies, or organizations hosting those seminars and various events jointly with the Company.
(e) Information about the Company’s shareholders
- To exercise and fulfill the Company’s rights and obligations under the Companies Act.
- To manage the Company’s shareholders, such as by creating shareholder data in accordance with the prescribed standards under various laws and regulations.
- To provide and communicate various information about the Company.
(f) Personal information related to business partners, alliance partners, etc.
- To provide information about the Company and the Services.
- To manage the status transactions and to send various communications.
- To fulfill and exercise the Company’s obligations and rights related to transactions.
- To develop new services.
(g) Information about the Company’s employees and former employees
- To conduct activities involved in employee management, such as business communication, personnel and labor management, payroll, welfare programs, health and hygiene management, and activities required by law.
- To communicate with former employees and to respond to inquiries from former employees.
(h) Personal information related to job applications
- To conduct activities involved in the Company’s hiring process, such as sending communications about information sessions, providing information about hiring, decisions on whether to hire or reject applicants, and sending messages about hiring activities.
(i) Personal information related to inquiries
- To respond to inquiries.
- To respond to requests for disclosure or the like received by the Company.
(4) Management of personal information
The Company implements an appropriate and reasonable level of security measures in the handling of personal information of Customers. Specifically, the Company takes the following measures, including establishing internal regulations, developing an appropriate organizational structure, supervising employees, and implementing technical security control measures, among others.
(a) Security control measures
- The Company will provide supervision necessary and appropriate for the prevention of leakage or loss of, or damage to, personal data and for other security management of personal data.
(b) Ensuring data accuracy
- The Company will keep personal data accurate and up-to-date to the extent necessary to achieve the intended uses and will strive to delete any personal data that the Company no longer needs to use.
(c) Retention period for personal information
- The Company will acquire and retain personal information appropriately in accordance with the provisions of applicable law and the Company’s internal regulations, in order to provide services as requested by Customers and to achieve the intended uses listed under the heading “(3) Intended uses of personal information” above in this Article 2.
(d) Supervision of employees
- When allowing its employees to handle personal data, the Company will provide necessary and appropriate supervision by ensuring that the proper handling of personal information is thoroughly known to all such employees and by providing appropriate training to them.
(5) Provision of personal information
The Company will not provide personal information of a Customers to third parties unless the Customer’s consent has been obtained or unless permitted by applicable law. The Company may provide personal information of a Customer to third parties in any of the following circumstances.
(a) Provision to third parties
The Company may provide personal information of a Customer to third parties in any of the following circumstances:
- Where the Company discloses the Customer’s personal information to an employer or another companies’ job search website in the course of provision of the Services.
- Where the Customer breaches any contractual provision of the terms of use of any of the Services, this PrivacyPolicy or any other contract executed with the Company and where the Company considers that it has no choice but to release the Customer’s personal information in order to protect the Company’s rights, property, the Services, etc.
- Where the Company discloses the Customer’s personal information when transferring shares in the Company or carrying out a merger or other reorganization, or a business transfer, or any other transaction similar to any of the above, or when conducting research or negotiations prior to any of the above transactions.
- Where the Company discloses the Customer’s personal information obtained through the website for an event, seminar or the like hosted by the Company to businesses, companies, or organizations partnering with the Company (i.e., partner companies or co-hosting or co-sponsoring companies).
- Where the Company provides the Customer’s personal information (excluding information that can identify a specific individual on its own) to advertising companies, research/analytics companies, ad delivery companies, media businesses, etc. that have contracts with the Company, for the purpose of improving the service performance of the Services or advertising or marketing the Services.
(b) Outsourcing
The Company may outsource all or part of the handling of personal data to an outside entity(ies) in order to facilitate the Company’s operations and to provide better services. When outsourcing the handling of personal data, the Company will limit personal data entrusted with the outside entity(ies) to the minimum necessary information to perform the outsourced services, will select as the contractor a partner which has taken appropriate security control measures, and the Company will provide necessary and appropriate supervision to such contractor.
(c) Provision to third parties located in foreign countries
The Company may provide personal information acquired by the Company to third parties located in foreign countries, within the scope of the intended uses listed under “(3)Intended uses of personal information” above.

The Company will promptly respond to Customers’ requests for disclosure of, or other action involving, the Customers’ own personal data in the possession of the Company (i.e., notification of the data’s intended uses, or disclosure of the data, or making corrections, additions or deletions to the data, or suspension of use of the data, or erasure of the data, or suspension of provision of the data to third parties, or disclosure of records of provision of the data to third parties). Upon receipt of a request, the Company will respond to the request within a reasonable period and to a reasonable extent, after confirming that the request is made by or on behalf of the Customer.

The Company will review this Privacy Policy from time to time and may change the same where necessary. (1) Measures taken for the security control of personal information
In order to strictly control personal information, the Company has established rules and regulations concerning personal information based on the Personal Information Protection Guidelines, operates a personal information protection management system, and takes security control measures from four perspectives, namely, organizational, personal, physical, and technical perspectives, to ensure the appropriate handling of personal information. Please address any inquiries about the specific security control measures taken by the Company to the contact information provided under the heading “(2) Contact point for inquiries” in Article 3 above.
(a) Organizational measures
The Company provides personal information protection training to all employees once a year.
(b) Personal measures
Upon joining and leaving the Company, each employee signs written confidentiality agreements that cover personal information.
(c) Physical measures
Employee access is controlled by card key. When accepting a visitor into the Company’s office, the visitor’s identity and business are verified at the entrance and the date, the visitor’s name and company name, and the time of acceptance are recorded in the Visitor Record.
(d) Technical measures
The Company appropriately manages the issuance, renewal, and disposal of IDs with access rights. The access rights of persons who no longer use information are immediately deleted.
(2) Use of cookies and other technologies
(a) The Company may use cookies and similar technologies when providing the Services. The Company may monitor the usage and other aspects of the Services by acquiring such information as Customers’ cookie information, information on advertisements and web pages viewed by Customers, and information on Customers’ usage environment automatically from Customers’ browser and by recording such information in a server, and may use such information to improve the quality of the Services.
(b) Any Customer who wants to disable cookies may do so by changing the settings of his/her browser. However, disabling cookies may prevent normal use of the Services.
(c) In addition to the activities set forth in paragraph (a) above, the Company may acquire, by using Google Analytics,information on electronic communication terminals used by Customers when using the Services (terminal identifier, IP address, location information, cookies, usage logs, etc.) and may use such information to analyze personal information on Customers, to measure and analyze website usage using the results of such analysis of personal information, and to improve the relevant website. (d) In addition to the activities set forth in paragraph (a)above, the Company may, by using Microsoft Clarity, collect and record data(i.e., logs) on visits to the Company’s website and analyze Customers’ activities and characteristics, and may use such information to monitor the usage of the Company’s site and to improve the quality of the site. The above information contains no information that identifies a specific individual and is managed by MicrosoftCorporation in accordance with its Terms of Use and Privacy Statement. (3) Use of STARTUP DB by EU Residents
The Company provides the following supplementary provisions to Articles 1 through 4 above regarding personal information of Customers who use STARTUP DB, which is among the Services, from within the EU.
(a) Additional information on the acquisition of personal information
- Of the information items listed under theheading “(1) Acquisition of personal information” in Article 2 above, the Company acquires the following. The Company uses Google Analytics for acquiring the information item listed in (ii) below.
(i) The name and e-mail address entered by the Customers during membership registration, including cases where the Customer uses an account with a service provided by the Company-designated third party of the Customer’s choice.
(ii) Information on electronic communication terminals used by the Customers when using the Services (terminal identifier, mobile terminal identifier, IP address, location information, etc.)
(b) Additional information on the intended uses of personal information and on statutory ground
- The Company will handle personal information for the following purposes in order to perform contracts related to the Company’s provision of the Services to Customers:
(i) Providing STARTUP DB, providing information about trends in the industry and other media information, and conducting questionnaire surveys.
(ii) Authenticating members and providing a push notification service to subscribers thereof, in the case of Customers who are registered members.
(iii) All other acts incidental to any of the above.
- The Company will handle personal informationfor the following purposes for the sake of the Company’s legitimate interests:
(i) Taking security measures for, and resolving problems with, the system for STARTUP DB and otherwise maintaining, managing, and improving such system.
(ii) Creating statistics and conducting various marketing research.
- The Company will handle personal information for the following purposes with the consent of the Customers:
(i) Analyzing personal information on Customers using Google Analytics, measuring and analyzing website usage using the results of such analysis, and using such results to improve the relevant website.
(c) Information on recipients of personal information
- The Company will transmit the information listed in (a)(ii)above to Google LLC in association with the Company’s use of GoogleAnalytics. (d) Information on transmission to third countries
- In connection with the handling of the information listed in (a)(ii), personal information may be transmitted to sites used by Google LLC(which may include sites in countries not recognized by the European Commission as having an adequate level of protection for personal information) in association with the Company’s use of Google Analytics. All Customers expressly consent to such transmission.
(e) Information on retention period
- The Company will retain personal information until the Company receives a request for deletion of such information from the relevant member.
(f) Information on the rights of data subjects
- Customers may exercise against the Company:(i) the right to access, (ii) the right to correct, (iii) the right to delete,(iv) the right to limit the handling of, (v) the right to raise an object to the handling of, and (iv) the data portability right with respect to, personal information of their own in accordance with Chapter 3 of the GDPR. (g) Information on the right to raise an objection to the handling of personal information
- Customers may raise an objection to the handling listed in (a)(ii) above. For conditions and procedures for the exercise of this right, please contact the contact point.
(h) Information on withdrawal of consent
- Customers may withdraw their consent to the handling specified in (2)(iii) and (5) above. For withdrawal procedure, please contact the contact point.
(i) Information on information to be mandatorily handled
- In order for a Customers to complete membership registration and to receive members-only services, information on the name and e-mail address of the Customers must be handled.
(j) Information on the right to file an objection with supervisory authorities
- Customers have the right to file an objection with supervisory authorities in EU member countries.
(k) Information on changes to intended uses
- The Company may use personal information on Customers in the future for advertising purposes, in addition to the intended uses specifically set forth in this Privacy Policy.
